Our vibrant rhythms keep audiences of all backgrounds engaged and captivated. Our vibrant melodies evoke images of nature, the traditional African culture, and stories of hardship, resilience, and victory. Our lyrics contain lyrics in both English and local African languages, paying homage to the culture, while also encouraging our audiences to celebrate life and celebrate togetherness. With every show, we seek to entertain and also deliver a meaningful message to the people in our audience. 2. Afro-pop, also known as Afrobeats, originated from Africa and has been influenced by a mix of cultures
and genres, including traditional African rhythms and rhythms from Western culture.
In the 1950s and 1960s, many West African countries gained their independence and traditional African
sounds mixed with more modern music to create a new sound. This new sound was popularized by Fela
Kuti, a Nigerian musician and activist, who fused elements of highlife and jazz into Afrobeat, the original
form of Afro-pop.
Kuti was also influenced by other popular African genres, such as jùjú and makossa. In addition to Fela
Kuti, other Nigerian artists who made their mark in the genre include Ebenezer Obey and King Sunny
Ade.
In the 1970s and 1980s, Afro-pop started to become more accessible due to technological
advancements in the music industry. This allowed for African music to spread around the world and gain
recognition from global audiences. As the genre continued to gain recognition, it also started to draw
inspiration from reggae, funk, hip-hop, and rap music.
