Domestic Violence Month Raises Awareness of Abuse Through Events and Social Media
- 2. Domestic Violence can easily turn into a matter of life or death, especially when a
person is faced with the pressures of the public. In 1994 the world watched as
NFL star and actor, OJ Simpson, was acquitted for the murder of exwife, Nicole
Simpson, and waiter, Ronald Lyle Goldman. This domestic violence case was
said to be the most publicized criminal trials of American history spanning from
January 24, 1995 to October 3, 1995.
In support of domestic violence month social awareness for the cause is growing
each day. Today marks The Day of Unity first observed in October 1981, which
aims to shed light on the cause. Community outreach and activities bring
awareness to the cause that has grown gradually overtime! On November 1,
2014 the CosmoGirls Glam Event “Fashion is my Passion” will be held at the
Dumbo loft in Brooklyn, New York. This event is a fashion show and mixer that
will donate funds to well deserving organizations including the Center Against
Domestic Violence. This fun filled event will host models, musical talent,
designers, stylist, and industry professionals. If interested in participating in this
