Company: HealthFitness Client: Dolby Laboratories, Inc. Program
Title: InternFit
Date: June 17th 2016 – July 29th 2016 (6 weeks)
Target Population: Dolby 2016 Summer Interns
Eligible: ~75 Registered: 20 (27%) Active: 10 (13%)
Program Summary: InternFit was a seven-week program designed to
develop a connection between interns and the wellness program here at
Dolby Headquarters. The program presented an opportunity to gain a
broader perspective on what it means to work in a cutting-edge
corporate setting within the heart of San Francisco. Many participants
opened up new horizons as they had taken their first ever group
fitness class or learned challenging exercises. As they experienced
the close-knit relationship of work and wellbeing they accrued
“points” for completing fitness challenges. The top three competitors
who had completed the most challenges throughout the event received
fitness accessories as prizes. The program also had weekly trivia
based on different health and fitness concepts.

Event Details: Nine different health-based challenges were introduced to
the group as a way to accumulate points that were used to determine
grand prize winners.
Participant Feedback: During the final week of the event a program survey
was released to assess the program. The majority of participants
responded with 100% satisfaction in their experience. This was used to
also be of reference for what future events can gain insight from.
- “I thought the program was great, and I especially love the
culture at the gym. The staff members are welcoming, energetic,
positive and promote a healthy lifestyle. Thanks for doing this
for us!” – Katelyn D.
- “Thank you so much for putting together an amazing program! The
only thing I would change would be the point system (ie. Going to
4 classes in one week should be worth way more points than it
currently is).” – Prudence S.
- “I would prefer more fitness/health related challenges and less
‘fun’ stuff (Dolby letters, conehead, etc). Overall it has been a
lot of fun! Thanks to all involved.” – Christopher L.
- “Include more challenges that can be done throughout the day. The

Outlook
This type of corporate wellness program is increasingly popular in
today’s world. To mitigate mental and physical barriers between work
and health is the ultimate goal of the 1275 Fitness Center. This
program was tailored to benefit the summer interns by providing an
enjoyable, welcoming atmosphere within the building.
The program saw a great turnout from the active participant. There
were 51 total submissions, bringing the average submission for each
person to 5.1 completed challenges. For future programs a number near
ten would be ideal. Nonetheless, for a first-year program of this
type, this program offered an inclusive opportunity for interns to
come together and enjoy fitness.
The statistics within the beginning of this report illuminate this
program’s greatest area of improvement: total participation. We would
have liked to see a stronger participation total as far as the active
contestant count.
- All individuals that had their internship during the time period
of this event were considered “eligible”.
- All individuals that emailed an RSVP to the event were considered
“registered”.
- Those individuals who registered, and submitted completion of
challenge(s) at some point were considered “active”.
Half of the total active participants had registered for the event.
Which means there needs to better facilitation between the phase of
registration and program launch. Methods for committing registered
contestants to program activity are essential for successful event
turnout. Also, interns bringing their mentor down to the fitness
center is a great idea.
Overall, this event was a successful attempt at providing its core
mission: to establish a transparent connection between work and
wellness here at Dolby Laboratories Inc. Areas of improvement provide
key items to be executed with more efficacy in the future. The general
feedback received illustrates the satisfaction from the target
population.
