2. Introduction
• Talya E. Gershon, MSW, CPC has partnered with Vigilant Watch, a
non-profit organization that provides support to active and retired
public safety officials. Specifically, Talya E. Gershon will be working
to assist first responders who suffer from depression, anxiety,
addiction, PTSD and other mental and emotional issues.
Vigilant Watch, whose mandate is to Help Those Who Serve Our
Communities, was established in 2008 in the aftermath of an
incredibly successful fundraising campaign for the families of two
Virginia Beach Fire Department firefighters who were diagnosed
with cancer. Firefighters, police officers and other first responders
are necessary for a community’s safety and well being, but when
tragedy strikes them in their own personal lives, they often have no
outside recourse or resources for coping.

3. Vigilant Watch
• Depression, drug and alcohol dependency,
marital, and relationship issues are sadly not
uncommon for individuals in these high stress
occupations. Through a balanced and holistic life
approach, individuals can come overcome the
obstacles in their lives, but they often require
guidance from experts.
