2. What is 3D Secure?
3D Secure is an internationally recognised security standard for online payments. It is known as “Verified by Visa” for payments
made by al khaliji Visa credit cards. It aims to enhance the security of Internet payments by reducing the risk of fraud.
How can I register on 3D Secure (Verified by Visa)?
It only takes a few seconds to enroll and you only need to enroll once. The next time you use your card online with a 3D secure
registered retailer, the registration process will start automatically and the merchant will redirect your payment to a new “Verified
by Visa” dialogue box. You will then be asked to select either “Activate Now” or “Do Not Activate Now”.
1. If you select “Activate Now” an Authentication Code will be sent by SMS to your registered mobile number. Enter this code
in the “Authentication Code” field, and then create (and re-enter) your 3D Secure static Password which will be used for all
future transactions with a 3D secured registered retailer. The password should be 8 to 15 characters long (alphanumeric
with at least one special character). You will then be asked to set your “3D Secure personal message” which will be displayed
during each future online payments process to reassure you that the website is an official 3D Secure payment site. You will
be asked for your 3D Secure password when you checkout. Your identity will be validated against your password, then your
purchase will complete as usual. No information will be divulged to the online merchant.
2. If you select “Do Not Activate Now”, you will be asked to “Continue” and your transaction will be completed. This option will
be limited to a maximum of 3 transactions but we strongly recommend that you register from the 1st purchase.
What if I don’t see the “Verified By Visa” dialogue box?
You will only see the VBV dialogue box if the merchant you are using is 3D Secure. You will be able to proceed with your payment
without registering.
How can I reset my Authentication Code?
If you do not receive an Authentication code, please click on the “Resend Authentication code?” link on the Verified by Visa
dialogue and it will be re-sent by SMS to your mobile.
What do I do if don’t receive an Authentication Code?

Can I register any al khaliji Credit Card?
Yes. You can register all types of al khaliji Credit Card.
Can I register my al khaliji Debit Cards?
No. Debit Cards won’t work for online transactions.
If I have more than one Credit Card, do I have to register each card separately?
Yes. Registration needs to be done for each card separately.
After I register, how long does it take for 3D Secure to become active for my credit card?
After you register, 3D Secure is immediately active for your card.
Do I have to pay for the 3D Secure service?
No, the 3D Secure service is completely free of charge.
If the online Merchant is not 3D secure, will I be required to register for 3D secure to complete the purchase?
No. You will not need to register for 3D Secure.
I have just received a renewed card, do I have to re-register?
No. You only need to re-register for 3D Secure if the card number changes.
How long is the password valid for?
Your 3D Secure password does not expire.
What happens when you enter an incorrect 3D Secure password three times? How do I unlock a locked 3D account?
If you enter your password incorrectly 3 times, your 3D secure account will be locked. If this happens, please contact the
24/7 al khaliji Contact Centre on +974 4494 0000 and after answering some security questions, your account will be unlocked
immediately.
How do I reset/change my password?
If you need to reset/change your password, click on the “Forgot your Password” link on the Verified by Visa dialogue and an
Authentication Code will be sent to your mobile to create and re-enter your static Password.

Yes. Your personal information is safe and secure as it is encrypted and stored on a secure server.
What happens if I do not register my credit card for 3D Secure?
If you do not register your credit card for 3D Secure, you will be able to make 3 online transactions with your credit card for
purchases from Merchants that support 3D Secure. After this, you will be unable to make purchases from 3D Secure Merchants.
You will still be able to make purchases from Merchants who are not yet 3D Secure.
How do I use the 3D Secure password?
Once the 3D Secure service has been activated, you will be asked to enter your 3D Secure password. Correct entry of your
password will allow completion of the payment. For additional security, you may need to enter an Authentication Code received
by SMS for some transactions.
How will I know if the Merchant is a 3D Secure Merchant?
A 3D Secure Merchant will display the Verified by Visa logo on their website.
Do all 3D Secure shopping sites allow me to carry out my payments?
No, certain operations can fail because:
• Some foreign traders accept only cards issued in their own country.
• Some traders accept 3D Secure cards only above a certain amount.
Please contact the merchant directly if you notice anything unusual on its site.
What about credit card payments in shops?
Purchases made in shops (and other purchases not made on the Internet) do not require 3D Secure - simply continue to pay with
your PIN.
Which cards are covered by this service?
All credit cards issued by al khaliji.
What is the purpose of the 3D Secure personal message?
This message will be displayed on all pages relating to payments made on a 3D Secure Merchant’s web site. You choose your 3D
Secure personal message when you define your 3D Secure password for the first time, and its presence on the website confirms
authenticity. Your personal message should be less than 30 characters long (including spaces).
For example: I live in Doha
What do I do if my 3D Secure personal message is not displayed on a 3D Secure web site?
This means that the web site authentication could not be validated. Do NOT continue with the transaction.
What do I do when I receive a new card following loss or theft?
If your credit card is replaced as a result of loss or theft, your new card will have a different number and you will therefore need
to activate 3D Secure on your new credit card.
What do I do if I am not asked for my 3D Secure password?
• Check that your 3D Secure personal message is actually displayed.
• Check whether the Merchant is 3D Secure (look for the “Verified by Visa” logo).
• Check whether your system is blocking advertising pop-up windows.
• If you are unhappy with the security of the website, close your browser immediately.
What do I do if I receive an email asking me for personal data concerning 3D Secure?
If you receive an email asking for data relating to your credit card number or your 3D Secure password, do NOT reply. It is likely
to be an attempted fraud.
What should I do if suspect fraud on my credit card?
In this case, please block your card as quickly as possible by contacting the al khaliji Contact Centre on +974 4494 0000 at any
time. Once the card is blocked you will no longer be able make any purchases with your credit card or use it to withdraw cash at
the ATMs.
