4. Imperative Sentence থক Indirect করমত হমি – প্রেমম থখয়াি করমত হমে থে,
Reported speech দ্বারা থকমন অেে লদমচ্ছ। েলদ Reported speech দ্বরা আমদশ
েুোয় তাহমি Reporting verb – এ order অেো ordered েসমে। আর উপমদশ
েুোমি advise অেো advised েসমে। আর অনুমরাধ েুোমি request অেো
requested েসমে। তখন Indirect –এ please অেো kindly েসমে না। আর লনমেধ
েুোমি prohibit অেো prohibited েসমে অেো forbid অেো forbade েসমে।
আর এমক্ষমে don’t / অেো never েসমে না। আর এমক্ষমে tell অেো told লদময়ও
করা োমে, তমে অেেমক ঠিক রাখার জনয তখন to এরপূমেে not লদমত হমে। আর
Inverted comma উমে লগময় to েসমে। আর োলক সে ঠিক োকমে।
Ex: He said, “Open the door.”
✓ He ordered to open the door.
Ex: He said to me, “Don’t go there.”
✓ He prohibited me to go there.
5. Let us েুক্ত Imperative sentence থক Indirect করমত হমি –
প্রেমম Reporting verb এর মধযকার say অেো said এর পলরেমতে
propose অেো proposed েসমে। আর say to অেো said to এর
পলরেমতে proposed to অেো proposed to েমস। আর Inverted
comma উমে লগময় that েসমে। আর let us পলরেমতে we
should/they should + verb + োলক অংশ েসমে।
Ex: I said to him, “Let us play football.

আসমত হমে।

2. Assertive Sentence - এ েক্তার উলক্ত েলদ দুই ো তমতালধক হয়, তাহমি Indirect
করার সময় লদ্বততয় sentence এর থক্ষমে and added that অেো also said that
অেো again said that েসামত হয় এেং তার পরেতত
ী sentence এর থক্ষমে further
said that েসামত হয়। আর Interrogative sentence এর থেিায় লদ্বততয় sentence
এর থক্ষমে and also asked অেো again asked েসামত হয় এেং তার পরেতত

Ex: He said to me, “You will go to library you will buy some books.”
✓ He told me that I would go to library and added that I would buy

Ex: He said to me, “Where will you go? When will you returns?”
✓ He asked me where I would go and also asked when I would return.
3. েলদ Inverted এর মামে ‘yes’ োমক, তাহমি উক্ত yes এর েমদৌিমত
replied in the affirmative েমস। আর ‘no’ হমি replied in
negative েমস। আর yes অেো no এরপর থকামনা েক্তেয োকমি তা
and said that দ্বারা শুরু হয়।
Ex: Amir said to Amira, “Did you go to varsity yesterday?
Amira said, “yes, I went.”
✓ Amir asked Amira if she had gone to varsity the previous
day. Amira replied in the affirmative and said that she
had gone.
4. Inverted comma – এর মামে ‘sir’ শব্দটি োকমি Indirect করার সময় উক্ত ‘sir’ শব্দটির
েমদৌিমত Reporting verb এর পূমেে respectfully শব্দটি েসামত হয় অেো Reported
speech এর পূমেে Addressing him as sir েসামত হয়। আর By Allah/By Jesue োকমি
Reporting verb এর শুরুমত swearing by Allah/Swearing by Jesue েসামত হয়। আর
কাউমক সমবাধন করা হমি Reporting verb এর শুরুমত Addressing + সমবাধক + as +
সমবাধনক
ৃ ত শব্দটি দ্বারা শুরু করমত হয়।
Ex: (i) He said to the officer, “Sir, please lend me one thousand take.”
✓ He respectfully requested the officer to lend him one thousand taka.
Ex: (ii) He said to me, “By Allah, I must kill you.”
✓ Swearing by Allah he told me that he had to kill me.
Ex: “Why didn’t you go to school yesterday?” said the mother. “I was ill, mum”
said the girl.
✓ Mother asked the girl why she hadn’t gone to school the previous day.
Addressing mother as mum the girl replied that she had been ill.
5. Inverted comma – এর মামে Good morning, Good evening, Good
night োকমি Indirect করার সময় Reporting verb এর subject ও Object ঠিক
থরমখ উক্ত say/said এর পলরেমতে wish/wished েমস। আর Good-bye এর থক্ষমে
উক্ত say/said এর পলরেমতে bid/bade েমস। আর থশমে উমল্ললখত শব্দগুলি েমস োমে।
আর thank you এর থক্ষমে উক্ত say/said এর পলরেমতে thank/thanked েসমে।
তমে এমক্ষমে থশমে উক্ত thank you েসমে না।
Ex: He said to me, “Good morning.”
✓ He wished me good morning.
Ex: I said, Good-bye my friends.
✓ I bade my friends good bye.
Ex: He said to me, “Thank You.”
✓ He thanked me.
6. েলদ Direct Narration এর Reporting verb টি cry/cried,
ask/asked, reply/replied, mutter/muttered হয় , তাহমি
Indirect করার সময় এগুলির থকামনা পলরেতেন করা োমে না। আর েলদ
থকামনা sentence দ্বারা প্রমশ্নর উত্তর েুোয় তাহমি থসমক্ষমে Reporting
verb টি Replied হমে।
Ex: I asked him, “Do you write a letter?”
