supportive attitude of their children they had to work and earning
money by their own resources. Economic support does not concern
with the income only, but with other things also. In old age when
they do not have the energy and willingness to work, they need
economic support. They desire for relaxation and happiness in
their ending days of life. Most parents from the previous
generation spent a majority of their income on their children without
considering how they would sustain themselves in their old age.

4. Psychological problem
People in old age often dislike being alone as they tend to
believe that everyone should obey them. However, when things

over time. This leads to a gradual decrease in physical and mental
capacity, a growing risk of disease and ultimately death. These
changes are neither linear nor consistent, and they are only loosely
associated with a person’s age in years. The diversity seen in older
age is not random. Beyond biological changes, ageing is often
associated with other life transitions such as retirement, relocation to
more appropriate housing and the death of friends and partners.

6. Deal with Crime and Abuse
The cases of offenses against the old aged are on the increase across
the country. Today, they are victims of serious hurt, murder, and
abuse and isolated by neighbours, family members and domestic
maids. According to the National Crime Records Bureau’s report
(2018), 32496 elderly have been murdered and 5836 cases of not
amounting to murder and kidnapping have been reported all over
India from 2011 to 2018. The academicians and the policymakers
have begun paying attention to this dimension of elder abuse (Das,
2009). Help Age India (2011) has done a study in twelve major cities
of India and reported different kinds of elder abuse cases in its study.
According to it, the elderly are abused verbally (60%), physically
(48%), emotionally (37%) and economically (35%) and 20% elderly
feel neglected themselves from the family as well as society.
Furthermore, this study has reported that the major types of crimes
faced by the elderly are burglary, molestations and criminal acts.
Similarly, the Group for Economic and Social Studies (2009)
conducted a survey in four metropolitan cities of India and reported
different types of crime that are committed against the elderly. These
crimes may be defined as a crime against the body (murder, attempt
to murder, hurt and kidnapping etc.), a crime against the property
(dacoity, robbery, burglary and theft) and economic crime (cheating,
criminal breach of trust etc.). With incidences of crime against the
elderly going up, there is a perceptible increase in fear of crime
among the elderly.

7. Educational Problem
It is seen that if a person is educated he/she will have a better
lifestyle, financial status and living condition in the older age. A lack
of formal education has been shown to be related to a greater risk of
dependency on the others. This is particularly important in the Indian
setting as education levels of older Indians are very low; it has been
estimated that 73% of persons above 60 in India are illiterate.

8. Importance of caregivers
Caregivers are tasked with important duty of providing support
and encouragement for the older adults as well as themselves.
Communication is the key in the relationship between a
caregiver and the older adult. It is important to both openly
share feelings and remain empathetic to the situation.
Caregivers may help with the daily activities such as toileting,
dressing, bathing, etc. They can also help in preparing meals,
doing chores or laundry, shopping for groceries or paying bills. In
Indian context, the caregivers are usually the family members of
the older adults who help and stays with them only. The older
person’s own caregiving responsibility, as the older people who
are caregiving for family members may be reluctant to report
their own symptoms any resulting medical procedures or
hospitalization will interfere with caregiving.

9. Traditional thinking
Traditional thinking means the old concept and old way of
doing anything. The senior citizens because of their
traditional thinking face different economic problems. For
example, elderly people never prefer the calculator for
adding or subtracting things, but here young people are
more depended on technologies. Old people work in the old
manner, which consume a lot of time. Senior citizens don't
accept new technologies because they think that this is the
