1. Music Magazine: Name
For my music magazine i have chosen to call it 'Frsh'. I decided upon this name
because it is common word used among those within the hip-hop/urban/grime
scene, As my magazine genre is Grime/hip-hop. I have decided to do a grime
music magazine as it is a popular genre that emerged out of the 2000's, and is
primarily a development of UK garage, drum and bass, dancehall.
Grime music itself is commonly associated with those between the ages of 16-25
and i believe that because I am within that age bracket and also enjoy grime/hip-
hop music, it will be easier to create the magazine.
2. Music Magazine: Target Audience
My Intended target audience for my Grime/Hip-Hop music magazine will be:
•Male and Females between the ages of 16-25. Due to prior research i found that
grime/hip-hop music is common among people between these ages, so it will make
sense to target this age range.
•The psychographics of my target audience would be the Explorers and the
Aspirers/Succeeder’s, as the majority are young and still may be in education or
have just began their working careers. The lower end of my target audience would
be the Explorer's, as they are considered to be materialistic and image and
appearance are important to them, which is why i believe my magazine will apply to
them. The higher end of my target audience are the Aspirers as they will have just
finished higher education and beginning their steps into the working world and
possess strong goal orientations.
•According to social grading my target audience would come under the grade 'C1'
and 'C2' as they may have just left higher education. This doesn't apply to the lower
end.
3. Music Magazine: Content Idea’s
Content Ideas for Grime music magazine:
•Exclusive interview between two 'beefing' grime artists. 'Chip' and 'Bugzy
Malone' to get too the bottom of the rivalry. This interview/story, I'm sure, will
be of great interests to the readers as the conflict between the two artists is
well acknowledged by those who follow the grime scene. (Double Page
Spread)
•Competition opportunities to win tickets to grime festivals and tickets to artists
of the moment headline world tour 'Stormzy‘, also . Also important upcoming
dates within the grime scene such as; festivals, tours, meet and greets etc.
•Pictures of artists and groups. Also adverts e.g. JD Sports new release.
(Coverlines)
•Website links to purchase tickets and merchandise.
•Information on how to access the magazine via social media platforms. E.g.
Facebook. Instagram & Twitter as it will make it much more accessible for
target audience to access the magazine, As i am aware that many of the
target audience don't purchase magazines.
4. My Publisher for my Grime/hip-hp music magazine will be Bauer Media. I
decided to use this publisher as they are well established and have a range of
platforms which they publish, however they currently do not publish a grime/hip-
hop genre magazine therefore leaves a gap in the market. I believe that by
using Bauer Media it will give me a competitive advantage as no other
grime/hip-hop genre is published by the company.
Bauer media also have a range of radio stations, tv channels and other
magazines which they publish, so advertisement and publicity isn't an issue as a
range of people will be able to access and see my magazine.

5. The colour scheme I will use for magazine will be Green and Black. I have decided to
use green, because it connotes "Freshness" which ties in with the name of my
magazine. The colour green also connotes "Growth" which could represent the
growth of my magazine and how Grime/hip-hop has grown to become a genre that is
well respected and recognised. Black is a colour that connotes strength and mystery
and I want a element of mysteriousness about my magazine that the target audience
experiences, instead of the common predictable magazines.
Both green and black are associated with the grime scene and the colours date back
to the origins of the genre. I want to continue that traditional theme on in my music
magazine with the aid of Adobe Color. Adobe Color allows me to mix the colours I
want to use for my magazine and also gives me recommendations of what colours to
use.
