Stuart has over 60 years of experience as an actor in plays across Australia. He has also directed several plays and worked in radio, television, and film. His training includes studying at WAAPA and workshops at Shakespeare's Globe in London. As an educator, Stuart teaches acting, Shakespeare, movement, and stage combat workshops for universities, schools, and theaters across Australia.

Stuart has also recorded a number of radio plays and poetry for ABC Radio Drama, as well as
over 50 audio books for Vision Australia including THE IVORY TRAIL for which he received the
Sanderson Young Adult Narrator of the Year Award in 2000.

Training: Stuart trained at WAAPA. He also trained as a gymnast and in Taekwondo, and holds
an Intermediate Stage Combat certificate from SAFDi. In 1995 he took part in the inaugural
season of workshops at Shakespeare’s Globe, London in TO BLOODY BATTLES AND
BRUISING ARMS with renowned fight director Phillip Stafford. Stuart represented Australia at
the inaugural International Artistic Fellowship, Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre, London, in 2001,
and is currently an Associate Director at Black Swan State Theatre Company.
As educator: Drawing from 25 years as a professional actor Stuart has conducted workshops in
Shakespeare, voice, acting, movement and stage combat for the Shakespeare Globe Centre Australia, WA
Youth Theatre Company, Midnite Youth Theatre, Notre Dame University, John Curtin School for Performing
Arts, the Independent Theatre Association, the International Schools Theatre Association and many other
schools and colleges in WA, VIC and NSW.
With student ages ranging from 9-adult, and from private coaching to groups of 40, he has taught and
lectured on the history of the Globe and how Elizabethan practice feeds in to today's interpretation of
Shakespeare's work, the specific rehearsal techniques used at the Globe in direct relation to the layout of
the theatre, Shakespeare’s Sonnets, audition techniques, the differences between verse and prose
speaking, monologues, duologues, and acting for the camera.
A proud member of Equity since 1995, he is currently President of Equity Section (WA) and has
sat on the National Performers Committee since 2006.
