3. Seveneves
• Neal Stephenson launched his literary career in 1984
with the publication of The Big U and has since released
12 additional works, including The Baroque Cycle,
Anathem, and Seveneves, his most recent novel. He
developed the idea for Seveneves from research he
conducted on space debris during his tenure at the Blue
Origin aerospace manufacturer in Washington.
Stephenson offers his readers a plot that follows the
human race leaving earth to avoid its destruction,
followed by future generations ultimately returning to an
altered form of the planet after 5,000 years. He
published Seveneves through HarperCollins in May
2015.
