Jeff Garcia has always believed that it’s
not the physical measurements of the person but the
size of the heart, the knowledge, and the will to
work that helps determine the result. Growing up in
Gilroy California, Jeff Garcia was an athlete from
an early age. In 1990 Jeff attended San Jose State
University and became the starting quarterback
from 91’-93’. Garcia was considered too small for
the NFL initially and set his sights on the CFL. Jeff
began his pro career with the Calgary Stampeders.
Garcia got his first break at starting in 95’ when Doug Flutie was sidelined with
an injury midway through the season. Garcia would eventually take over in
Calgary and did not look back while leading the Stamps to the Western Final in
97’and winning the Grey Cup in 98’ earning the game’s MVP. During his years
in the CFL, Garcia became a four-time CFL All-Star before making his debut in
the NFL in 1999 with the San Francisco 49ers. There Jeff had the opportunity to
learn from NFL great Steve Young before taking the reins as San Fran’s number
one pivot. With the 49ers, Garcia made three of his four career Pro Bowl
appearances and led the team to the playoffs in 2001 & 2002 including setting
a new team passing record throwing for 4,278 yards in a single season. Jeff’s
career would eventually lead him to stops in Cleveland, Detroit, Philadelphia
and Tampa Bay while becoming one of only ten quarterbacks in NFL history
who have achieved two consecutive thirty-touchdown passing seasons.
Garcia married his wife Carmella in 2007 and they currently reside in Rancho
Santa Fe California with two daughters and two sons.
