Clutter Removal
Clutter does not cause bed bugs but it does make finding
them more difficult
Try to discard old newspapers, clothing you don’t wear,
broken equipment (radio, telephone, TV)
What you can’t throw out place in green garbage bags and
ask the Exterminator to treat the contents with pesticide
HaveIbeenbittenbyabedbug?

IfYouHaveBedBugs –ChemicalTreatment
When you report bed bugs an appointment will be scheduled
with the Exterminator. You will receive a notice with the date
and instructions for preparing your apartment
It is normal to see live bed bugs the first couple of days after
treatment. The pesticides have a residual (lasting) effect so do
not clean or vacuum treated areas for at least 2 weeks
Also, many severe infestations may require 2 or 3 treatments
before bed bugs are completely gone
ChemicalTreatment
The PCP can treat most infested furniture. So do
not throw out your furniture unless suggested
to do so by the Exterminator
Non-ChemicalTreatments –TenantMust“Do”
Heat kills bed bugs so:
All bedding and clothing placed in green garbage
bags should be removed from bags and placed in
dryers for at least 30 minutes using hottest setting
Discard original bags and place heat treated items
in new ones and tied
Replace bedding but keep clothing in bags until you
are sure the infestation is gone. After wearing
clothes place in a separate bag and label as dirty
Non-ChemicalTreatments –Tenant“CanDo”
Vacuum carpets, couches/chairs especially under
pillows
Use the vacuum crevice tool and try to get deep into
corners
If you do not own a vacuum cleaner one is available to
borrow from your Administration
It is a good idea to label the garbage bags
Non-ChemicalTreatments –Tenant“CanDo”
Mattress and Box Spring Encasements are a
wise investment
If you don’t have bed bugs encasements will
protect your bed and box spring from infestation
If you do have bed bugs it will lock bed bugs in and
save you from purchasing a new bed or box spring

Tenant Bed Bugs Presentation

Editor's Notes

  1. I want to thank you for taking the time to be here today to view the presentation on the subject of bed bugs. The subject of bed bugs is not one really wants to learn about, but I know it is one that is close to home, if not in your home. Let me start by introducing myself. My name is Stephen Browman and I recently started a company called Bed Bug Solutions.
  2. Before the government started putting regulations on the use of pesticides people were spraying them everywhere. From airplane cabins to people and even in the baby crib.
