– Hotel check-in and free time
• Friday
– Royal Ontario Museum
– Aga Kahn Museum and Ismaili Centre
– Speaker
– Group Dinner at Spaghetti Warehouse
Agenda Highlights
• Saturday
– Casa Loma
– Plan your own adventure time
– Group Dinner at Medieval Times
• Sunday
– Leave around 9 AM
– See Niagara Falls
– Arrive in Columbus around 7 PM
Things to Bring
• Current passport/passport card and a copy of that document.
• Current medical insurance card or a photocopy of the original card.
• Your phone and phone charger.
• Some spending money for meals not covered and any souvenirs
• A debit and/or credit card that will get you access to cash in the case of an
emergency. (You may need to call you bank and tell them that you are
traveling ahead of time.)
• Any medications you take regularly and toiletries you will need.
• Both indoor and outdoor clothing for three days. (The forecast is looking
cold).
• Business casual clothes for Friday
• Comfortable walking shoes (particularly for Friday and Saturday).
• Writing utensils and paper.

About Mike Jancik
• Mike Jancik is the Founding Partner of Lakeshore Insights, a
Toronto-based public interest policy and strategy consultancy.
His recent work includes advising Ontario on the settlement and
integration of refugees from the Syrian Crisis and helping a medium
sized community to build a social-infrastructure development
strategy.
Prior to founding Lakeshore Insights, Mike served in a variety of
senior political and public service roles including as Executive
Director of Policy to Premier Kathleen Wynne and as Director of the
Research, Evaluation and Capacity Building Branch of the Ontario
Ministry of Education. Mike holds a degree in Philosophy and
Political Science from McGill University.
Final Homework
• Research Lakeshore Insights to learn more
about Mike.
• Read at least three articles (from varied times
in over the past year of so) regarding
immigration policy and Canada and their
response to the refugee crisis.
• Each person must write out and bring with
them two questions to ask Mike.
