Canadian Foodgrains Bank (CFGB) is a partnership of Canadian Churches and Church-based agencies working to end global hunger. CFGB works towards this goal in conjunction with its members and partners around the world by supporting international programs to meet immediate food needs, reduce malnutrition, and achieve sustainable food security. It also influences improvements in national and international policies to end global hunger and strengthen the efforts of Canadians to meet this goal. In February 2019 CFGB conducted a tour for several Canadian supporters to view several of its projects in Ethiopia. A summary of the tour is presented in the accompanying slide share presentation.

erosion → deficient soil fertility → less farmland/grazing land
available for households
• Individual farm families face up to 4 month food gap shortage
each year
• Project uses cash-for-work/food-for-work on watershed
rehabilitation activities including conservation farming
(minimum tillage, green manure cover crops) and hillside
reforestation using seedlings from on-site tree nursery.
• Has benefited over 2,000 farm family households with
improved food security and 900 landless youth in the cash-for-
work activities. These benefits overall have positively affected
more than 12,000 persons in the Amhara region.
