Dear Sonia:
I am pleased to appoint you to the Office of the President’s Advisory Committee on the
Status of Women (“PACSW”), effective July 1, 2015. I am confident you will bring a
valuable perspective to the Committee and appreciate your willingness to take part in this
important initiative.
The charge to the committee is to examine issues regarding the status of women at UCOP;
analyze existing policies, procedures, and/or programs that affect those issues; advance an
agenda to improve the climate and opportunities for women at UCOP; identify model
programs or activities and support implementation; and recommend changes that will
continue to afford women equal and fair access to UCOP programs, activities, and
opportunities.
Your appointment is for a two-year term and is renewable for up to six years total. PACSW
meets on the 4th Tuesday of each month, and all members are expected to participate in at
least one subcommittee or task force.
I wish you and your colleagues well as you carry on the work of this important Committee.
The work of the Committee is significant to the continued success of the University of
California and exemplifies leadership for diversity initiatives.
