Sommer Clegg graduated from Christopher Newport University in 2016 with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology/Anthropology and a minor in Psychology. During her time at CNU, she studied abroad in Belgium, Amsterdam, and Germany examining the role of communication and food in international cultures. She worked as a front desk assistant for the Center for Academic Success and served as president of the Green Team of CNU and vice president of the Hiking Club of CNU, coordinating trips and sustainability initiatives. She conducted ethnographic research for the Department of Sociology/Anthropology and has volunteered with the Virginia Peninsula Foodbank since 2015.
