engineer for the past 15 years. He originally learned the Orion®
Platform as a NOC manager, building out a 24/7 NOC for a
billion-dollar company. Scott has worked on hundreds of
SolarWinds environments ranging from large commercial
organizations to classified government agencies. He currently
works with SolarWinds customers to show them how to obtain
the highest return on investment (ROI) from the Orion Platform.

NetPath
Allows you to see all the paths between a Windows® device (usually a
poller) and any device on the network/internet
The NetPath is run over any port of your choosing.
• Web Servers: Port 80
• SQL Server® Instances: Port 1433
• Network Devices: Port 22

If the devices along the path are also monitored by the Orion Platform,
granular information such as CPU, memory, and interfaces will also be
displayed when the user mouses over the device.
The NetPath agent can be installed on any Windows device and can
run internally or externally. The agent will then report its findings to the
Orion Platform database.

NetPath can also correlate information from other modules on the
screen.
For example, it can display a device configuration change leading to a
higher response time for an interface.

• Allows you to look at seemingly unrelated monitored objects to get
a view of what’s causing a problem.
• Excellent troubleshooting tool.
• The “it’s not me” resolver.
• Makes a great NOC screen for troublesome issues.

AppStack
Shows when an object is having an issue and how it relates to other
objects in the environment.
For example, a virtual host having a problem will show all the guests
running on it, the applications monitored on it, and the groups to which
it belongs.
This provides a better understanding of what has failed and the effect
it has on the network/business.

SNMP Walk Tool (Installed on Orion Server)
• Allows you to test connectivity/SNMP Walk a device from outside of
the Orion Platform application.
• Great tool for determining if the issue is an ACL, a route, or the
Orion Platform itself.
• Tool is located on the Orion server in C:Program files
