Packaging, andPaperProductsandStationaryPromotionGroupslaunch an
informationandcommunicationcampaign. Targets of thepromotionalcampaignare
Topublicizethecapacity of sectorandadvantagesprovidedby, increaseexportvolumes;
ToinformandpromoteEuropeaninvestors, thosewhoareintendedandcapable of;
To be knowledgeableaboutdemandsandopinions of Europeanimporters.
Tolearnthepracticesimplementedby EU Agenciestowardssectorandimprovethesectorcapacitybymeans of
participating in thesepracticesandto be involved in EU cooperationworks.
Since thecenter of economiccooperation of 27 memberstatesand EU businessnetworks, Brussels, thecapital of
EU, is of an outmostimportanceforTurkishcorporations, Project Management CommitteeMembers, as
representatives of promotiongroups, Ms. Zeynep Kürklü, Mr. Mehmet Balıkçıoğlu, Mr. Levent Çolakoğlu, Mr.
DikranAcemyan; Mr. Abdullah Tever, Chairman of WoodandForestryProductsSector Board andMs. Dr. Yasemin
Demirdağ, General Secretary of IstanbulExportersUnionmadefirst of visitstoBrussels.Representatives of EU
Commission, Industry, Directorates General of Commerce, Environment andTaxation, EU Committee of
Regionsand EU Parliamentattended in thepromotionaleventheld in Brussels on December 3, 2009.
Furthermore, it has beenheldmeetingsandexchangedinformationandideaswithumbrellaorganizations, such as
Confederation of EuropeanPaperIndustries (CEPI), EuropeanFederation of FurnitureRetailers (FENA),
EuropeanConfederation of WoodworkingIndustries (CEI-Bois), Technological Platform
forWoodandForestryproducts (FBI Technology Platform), Brusselsrepresentatives of Germanand French chamber
of commerce, representatives of businessassociations, andalsowithrelevantcompanies. Theeventwasheld in
threesubsequentsessionsaftertheopeningspeech of Mr. Abdullah Tever, thechairman of Sectoral Board
forWoodandForestryProducts.
First sessionwasheldwiththeattendance of authoritiesfromEuropeanUnionagencies, Dr. Yasemin Demirdağ,
General Secretary of IstanbulExporters’ Unions, made her introductorypresentation. Withthissession, it is aimed
at; development of constantcommunicationchannelswiththepublicbodiesregulatingexport –
importenvironmentthroughregulationsexecuted at EU levelandensuringnecessaryinformationexchange in
ordertomakewoodproductssectors of Turkey a part of
ongoingcooperationworkswhichareforincreasingbusinessquality in coordination of publicbodies.
Second session is aboutfurnituresector, lastsession is of paper, cardboard, packaging,
paperproductsandstationerysectors; andthe main purpose of thesesession is toredefineimage of
exportersbeinglittle-knownorperceivednegativelybytargetmarkets,
toincreasethevisibilityandheighteningitsprofilebyEuropeanimporters, retailers, manufactures,
topublicizethecapacitydeveloped as a result of investments in therecentyears.
Forthispurpose, presentationsaboutmanufacturingcapacity, humanresource, technologicalinvestment,
designandcreativitycapacity, competitiveprices of
WoodandForestryProductsSectorsarecommunicatedbysectorrepresentatives, members of Project Management
CommitteetoumbrellabodiesrepresentingEuropeanimporters, retailersandmanufacturing. Furthermore,
perceptionanddemands of importerandindustrialistsoperating in
contractmanufacturingareenlightenedandnewinitiativestoreachnewmarketsareembarked on.
ThepromotionalcampaigneventsforWoodandForestryProductswillcontinuewiththemeetings in Germany (Berlin)
and France (Paris) designated as targetcountries. Theevent in Germany will be held in February 2010 and in
France to be in March 2010.
