child of Eileen and Jeff Shiffrin both were originally from the North western United
States and former Skier racers.
Her mother raced in high school in North western Massachusetts in the Berkshires
while her father was an avid skier on weekends in Vermont and also worked as an
anesthesiologist at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center.
Mikaela Shiffrin grew up with elder brother Taylor Shiffrin. He raced for the
University of Denver and was a member of the Denver Ski Team which won its 22nd
National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Championship.
Career Stating In Ski Racing
Mikaela Pauline had a strong result in major competitions. In march 2010 at age 14
year, she won both the slalom and GS at the Topolino games in Italy against the
skiers from 30 nations.
The following winter, now meeting the FIS minimum age requirement of 15 year, she
won a Nor-Am Cup super-Combined race in December 2010 at Panorama In British
Columbia.
Only the eighth FIS level race in which she had competed. Shiffrin followed it up with
three podiums in her next three Nor-Am races.

a pair of Nor-Am slalom races held at Sunday River, Maine.

Mikaela is in a relationship with fellow skier Aleksander.
Mikaela Pauline Shiffrin made her World Cup Debut on March 11, 2011, in giant
slalom at Spindleruv Mlyn in the Czech Republic. In early April, just a few weeks
after her 16th birthday.
She won the slalom title at the US National Championship at Winter Park, Colorado
and also became the youngest American ski racer to claim a National Alpine Crown.
