Formed in 2007, NH Roller Derby plays on a flat track and is a ranked member-league of the Women’s Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA). Its current top-level team, the NHRD All-Stars, competes for rank against more than 300 other teams worldwide. Two home teams, the Nightmares on Elm Street and the Granite Skate Troopers, compete for league bragging rights.
All athletes who compete for NHRD identify as women, as required by the WFTDA. Men participate as referees, non-skating officials, volunteers, coaches, and spectators. NHRD
supports the community through donations, volunteer work, and partnerships with a variety of other nonprofit organizations.

Modern roller derby is a fast-paced and legitimate sport that started with grassroots leagues in
the early 2000s. There are now more than 400 women’s flat track roller derby leagues worldwide.
NH Roller Derby was the first for our state and its athletes are not paid to compete.
Most roller derby leagues now compete on flat tracks instead of banked tracks because of
the high cost to build and store banked tracks. Flat track roller derby can be played just about
anywhere that there’s enough space for the track to be marked off with tape. NHRD has a
beautiful space at the JFK Coliseum where all home games are played.

Our Fans
Roller derby is a slightly obscure sport that relies upon its beloved fans. In fact, many roller
derby traditions are mostly preserved for the fans, such as our fishnets, derby names, and
“bout day makeup.” The hits: those are for us.
