1. Explanation of My Role at CzechGlobe
CzechGlobe (http://czechglobe.cz/en/), the Global Change Research Institute of the Czech Academy of
Sciences, is a European center of excellence investigating the impacts of global change on the
atmosphere, biosphere and human society through the application of advanced instrumentation and
techniques.
I supported the development of proposal to the European Union’s Regional Development Fund that led
to the establishment of CzechGlobe, and then served on its Science Advisory Board for several years.
Currently, I support CzechGlobe by working with the staff in Department of Remote Sensing on
processing and analysis of thermal hyperspectral data in applications related to agriculture, forestry and
urban sustainability. I am still employed by the National Snow and Ice Data Center (http://nsidc.org/)
within the Cooperative Institute for Environmental Sciences (http://cires.colorado.edu/)at University of
Colorado, in Boulder
