2. Healthy Relationships
A healthy relationship is characterized mainly by
good communication. Those in the relationship
must speak together about their issues rather
than taking personal action. While you shouldn’t
become physical, arguments are inevitable as
you are two different people. Remain calm and
take a break if things become too aggressive.
3. Unhealthy Relationships
An unhealthy relationship is one that makes you or
the other person uncomfortable. If the other person
insists upon things that you dislike, becomes jealous
easily, asks that you cease activities that you enjoy,
or physically or verbally hurts you then you should
re-evaluate your relationship with this person.
Depending on the severity different methods of
handling the situation can be used. In the case of
something minor such as insistence, then one can
take action by simply confronting the other about it.
In cases of abuse then you should break off the
relation, tell someone you trust about it, or call the
police.
4. Bullying
An issue that remains even today is bullying, the intention
of a person to cause harm to others, often to make
themselves feel better. If your bully is one that simply
throws out insults and taunts, the best way to handle it is
to ignore the bully’s existence entirely. Once they realize
they aren’t getting a rise out of you then they are likely to
lose interest. In cases of physical bullying such as
pushing and tripping, something you can do is to tell a
trusted adult about it. When you believe the bullying to
be life threatening, it may be prudent to carry methods
of self defense like pepper spray, or better yet, getting
classes in self defense so that it cannot be taken from
you.
5. Bullying 2
My personal favourite method of deterring bullies
is my ‘death glare’. I find that staring at a person
in an aggressive and unblinking way is one of the
best ways to get rid of bullies. This may be due
to the fact that most of my bullies were when I
was a child though. Most of the anti-bullying
methods I used were for intimidation. I also
favoured cracking my knuckles and fake martial
arts stances that were helped along by the fact
that I am Asian. If worst came to worst then you
can always run to a teacher for a quick fix.
