2. About MIT App Inventor
App Inventor is a cloud-based tool, which means you can build apps right
in your web browser. This website offers all the support you'll need to learn
how to build your own apps. The App Inventor software, or "service" is
at ai2.appinventor.mit.edu.
3. Setting up App Inventor:
• If you are using an Android device and you have a wireless
internet connection,you can start building apps without
downloading any software on your computer. You will need
to install the App Inventor Companion App on your device.
OR
• If you do not have an Android device, you'll need to install
software on your computer so that you can use the on-screen
Android emulator.
OR
• If you do not have a wireless internet connection, you'll need
to install software on your computer so that you can connect
to your Android device over USB.
4. Designer and Blocks Editor overview:
App Inventor consists of the Designer and the Blocks Editor.
• Designer Editor
1. Enables oneself to design the user interface of the App using the palette provided at the left
side of the main window.
2. The App's User Interface can be designed by arranging both on- and off-screen
components by drag n drop method.
3. Editing window is available at the right side under properties.
Before designing one has to have a brief idea about the user interface he/she wants on the
App as editing the user interface at the end can be quiet tedious.

6. Designer and Blocks Editor overview:
• Block Editor
1. Program the app's working by putting blocks together.
2. Basic programming skills are required.
3. Built-in-drawers are available at the left hand side of the screen. Required blocks can be
snapped together using drag and drop method.
