3. Vaishno Devi has a rich history and mythology associated with it.
According to the legends, the goddess appeared in the form of a
young girl to a Pandit named Sridhar, who lived in a village called
Hansali. The goddess asked the Pandit to build a temple in her honor at
a place called Trikuta, which is now known as Vaishno Devi.

4. ·Vaishno Devi Temple: The temple is the main attraction of Vaishno Devi and is situated on a
hilltop. Devotees need to trek for around 13 km from the base camp at Katra to reach the
temple.
·Bhairavnath Temple: This temple is located around 2.5 km from Vaishno Devi temple and
is dedicated to the Hindu deity Bhairavnath.
·Ardh Kuwari Cave: This cave is situated around 6 km from the base camp at Katra and is
believed to be the place where the goddess rested for some time during her journey to the
shrine.
·Banganga: This is a sacred spring that is situated around 1 km from the base camp at Katra. It
is believed that the goddess washed her hair at this spring.
