In this short video by Shomerei Hamashal we will discuss what death is.
What we teach is rooted in the 1st 6 books of the bible – Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy and Joshua.
They are the foundational teachings of everything else in the bible.
To consider what human death is we need to examine the 4 parts of a human.
When we think about what a human is, we think about it from the perspective of whatever traditional teachings we receive from others.
Or from whatever knowledge or training we have received.
Modern science has finally evolved to a point where it is understood that our cosmos is a manifestation of quanta.
Quanta are the smallest units of measure of a physical property.
The quanta come from another place that science has not yet fully understood.
Genesis chapter 1 says we are made in the image and like the likeness of Elohim.
Elohim literally means ‘mighty ones’.
This says that invisible ‘mighty ones’ made you like them.
At its most fundamental interpretation it is a restatement that quanta are the substance of the cosmos and a human is part of the cosmos.
A human is composed of four parts.
The 1st part is described in Genesis as nesh-aw-maw.
It is invisible and has qualities like the wind in the sky.
It is a derivative of Hebrew roo-akh; what we frequently translate into English as ‘spirit’.
The 2nd part of a human is neh-fesh.
This is usually translated into English as ‘soul’.
It is like a liquid.
It assumes the shape of its container.
And it flows downward when it is separated from its container.
The 3rd part of a human is afar ‘dust’.
It is supplied by the earth as fine dust particles.
The 4th part of a human is aw-rome.
It is ‘nakedness’.
Each of the 4 parts of a human are essential to describing how human and Elohim are related to each other.
The 1st 6 books of the bible describe the form and function of humans from the point of view of these 4 parts.
So what is death?.
Humans are assembled from these 4 parts.
So death is the disassembly of these 4 parts.
A lot of confusion about what a human is comes from its complex functions while it is alive.
For example, a baby gets fluids from the mother while it is in its mother’s womb.
Light is added through the eyes.
Oxygen is extracted from the air.
And so on.
The description in Genesis describes the most fundamental aspects of what humans are.
The Pentateuch describes the destiny of the neh-fesh, the soul, as the most important thing.
The soul is what you are and is unique to every human.
A person’s identity is a soul.

Death is described as the death of the Hebrew baw-sar ‘flesh’ or ‘body’
When this happens the 4 parts of the human are separated
Your destiny is for them to be recombined
The parts of a human are remade into parts that cannot be separated or destroyed
The tabernacle that Yahweh instructed Moses to have the sons of Israel make at the base of Mount Sinai is a model of Elohim and the cosmos
If you study it you will learn how a human works
For example, the tabernacle had gold covered acacia wood frames that stand up around the inner parts
These frames are called ‘ribs,’ like the ribs of a human
The tabernacle had a continuing existence after generations of humans died while others were born
It begins to tell a story about what eternity is
We hope this short video will help you understand what human death is
Its not possible to get answers to all of the many questions you might have about this subject in a short video like this
At Shomerei Hamashal we have found that most people are not really persuaded about any important subject like death until they have a chance to study it with much more scrutiny than this short video can possibly provide
