Construction of new households, private business enterprises, new government and private buildings coupled with expansion of public
transportation network have boosted the demand for air conditioners in the GCC region.
After a temporary slump in global crude oil prices, the regional economy registered a turnaround. In 2019, the GCC economy started to
recover on account of economic diversification led by all GCC countries. Also, countries has increased its investments into non oil sector as
a result of which there is an increased demand for air conditioners in all the GCC countries.
Major reasons attributed to the growth are increased construction activities, FIFA world cup 2022, World Expo 2020, expansion of new
rail & metro, airports & ports, commercial spaces, etc.

• In 2019, chillers and High Wall Split air conditioner market captured a major portion of the GCC market on account of increasing
number of commercial establishments such as new retails malls, expo’s, trade fairs, new hotels, airports expansion etc.
• There has been a shift in demand from window air conditioning units towards Split AC, Ducted Split Air Conditioners in residential
spaces, which has added to the growing demand for ducted air conditioners. There has been an shift from packaged air conditioners to
VRF as these are more reliable, economical and advanced. Chillers are more economical for larger spaces, whereas VRF are more
suitable for comparatively smaller area or spaces. In chillers segment air cooled chillers are ore prominent across GCC due to water
scarcity.
