Healthy Me, Leejay Levene
“In one of his songs, Raffi, one of my favourite children’s songwriters, wrote “All I really
need is a song in my heart, food in my belly, and love in my family”. Eloquently but simply,
Raffi is saying that to be a Healthy Me you really need a blend of an upbeat, can do spirit
whose life dreams are nurtured both physically and emotionally by one’s family and friends.
As Leejay’s uncle, I witnessed Leejay’s Healthy Me attitude throughout his life. Meals on
Wheels, for whom my mother Bernice volunteered for many years in Toronto, provides this
same nourishment for many like Leejay who still have important songs to sing.”
