Subject: Application for the Position of Assistant Director in Biology.
Dear Madam/Sir,
With reference to the advertisement in The Daily Inquirer For the position of
Assistant Director in Biology I would appreciate if you consider myself against that position and
oblige.
I know that I am sort of over-qualified for the position but I shall be delighted to accept, if
offered the opportunity. Although retired , I took a position of Consultant in The Shaukat
Khanum Hospital in Lahore, Pakistan for one year and returned in 2o12 after establishing a
cancer diagnostic laboratory.
I am quite sure that I have exceptionally broad background, since I had both classical as well as
parochial one. A bird ecologist, plant taxonomist, agrostologist and also cancer researcher.
Additionally wrote the biology Laboratory manual and gave lectures in Biology at Oklahoma
State University, Stillwater, Okla.,
Plant evolution and Philosophy of Science at Karachi University to Graduate students and
Medical Genetics At Crozer-Chester Medical Center , Chester, Pa.
Establish the first Department of Genetics in Karachi University and also taught Genetics and
Evolution there. Additionally, established a Cancer Research laboratory at university of
Pennsylvania and another such laboratory at Crozer-Chester Medical Center, PA.
A detailed resume’ is attached that is embarrassingly long with a list of nearly 89 publications. I
am a very healthy person both physically and mentally and shall be delighted to be useful
instead of wasting what I still can depart.
Thanking you,
Shamim A. Faruqi, Ph.D.
