Why is government job better
than private
Post completing their education, young candidates have two options:
government and private jobs. The major conflict between the two conditions
is that private jobs offer better pay while government jobs offer greater
stability. Your entire career depends on your final decision and you must
choose according to your career goals. Government jobs are usually publicly
announced, and evaluated by a written examination and an interview. On the
other hand, private jobs require the candidate to apply and attend the
interviews. In any case, both kinds of jobs have different requirements,
benefits and disadvantages – which are as follows:
Job Stability
As common knowledge goes, sarkari jobs offer better security than private
jobs. A government employee can only be fired if there is a serious legal or
performance breach that needs to be addressed. On the other hand, private
organisations might downscale the team at any time as a cost-cutting
measure. Thus, government employees can plan a better future with a stable
job.
Competitiveness
Examinations for sarkari naukri are extremely competitive due to their limited
vacancy and success rate. One needs to invest enough time to fulfil the criteria
and prepare for the selection examinations. On the other hand, private jobs
are relatively easier to take up with greater recruitment availability.
Employee-friendly Vacations
Thanks to better leave policies in the sarkari jobs sector, leave approvals are
employee-friendly and flexible than in the private sector. They depend on your
workload and backup availability, and you won’t be assigned more than
twenty leaves annually.
Work stress
Government sectors work towards a long-term goal and the pressure
increases at the end of the financial year or important festivals. Private jobs
work by strict deadlines and short-term goals, which leads to increased stress
levels all year round.
Easy leaves
Several private companies offer work-from-home opportunities to employees
if they can’t be physically present at work because of an illness or travel plans.
In the case of government jobs, employees can easily take leaves when sick or
travelling.
Salary and Employment Benefits
Private jobs pay higher monthly salaries, and you also receive promotions and
appraisals based on your performance. Government employees, however, are
granted allowances such as residence, medical and transportation facilities
that are well-coveted in the industry. There are, therefore, better allowances
that cover many aspects of a person’s daily life, for which a private sector
employee has to keep aside a lot of money that they receive as salary.
Retirement Policies
Once you have a sarkari naukri in hand, you need not worry about your
retirement. As per the current pension scheme, a government employee can
maintain their present living standards after retirement too. Moreover, they
receive medical, travel and housing benefits, especially in cases of banking,
railways and other such government jobs. However, a private sector employee
must carefully plan for their future and family after they retire.
Holidays
As per the national calendar, government jobs offer more paid holidays than
the private ones. Government offices grant public holidays for all festivals,
while most private jobs offer a specific number of leaves. For example, a
Muslim employee would get an off for Eid while the rest have to work, etc.
Moreover, you won’t enjoy Indian holidays if you work for an overseas-based
multinational organisation. But sarkari naukri employees get every holiday
mentioned in the calendar.
Relocation
Sarkari naukri comes with employee relocation policies while working at the
same organisation. People wanting to relocate for family reasons find this a
flexible and beneficial arrangement, which is impossible in a private job.
Efficient work-life balance
Sarkari jobs have established working hours with no shifts, while many private
jobs have flexible hours. A few years ago, the RBI initiated such discretionary
hours for bank officers to ensure a good work-life balance. While most
government jobs follow a seven-hour work pattern, private jobs have a nine-
hour rule with stringent login hours.
Before choosing a government or private sector job, it’s important to research
the different industries and make an informed decision. Both come with their
own demands, and one must prepare separately for them. Once you’ve
