4. History
• The Eiffel tower was built between 1887 and
1889.
• The Eiffel tower was constructed for the
International Exhibition of Paris.
• It was only suppose to stay standing for the
exhibition, But the tower offered important needs
to the people of Paris.
• In 1909 the plan to tear it down was upended
because the tower could be used for telegraphy.
Then in 1918 French Radio used the tower to
send their signal. It also helped French
television in 1957 by sending signal out.
5. So many people visited the Tower in it’s
1st year that all almost all construction
costs were recovered with ticket sales.
After WORLD WAR II
When Paris fell to the Nazis, French
rebels cut the cables to the elevator so
Hitler had to climb stairs.
6. The Eiffel tower has a unique structure.
The tower is 324 meters (1063 feet) tall.
The tower took two years with 300 hundred steel
workers.
To the top it is 1652 steps. It has also an elevators .
It has three platforms in between.
The tower weighs about 7000 tons and was the largest
building ever constructed until 1930 when the Empire
State building was built

• Painted every 7 years to preserve the iron and
steel structure.
• Takes 14 months to paint from top to bottom.

9. The Platforms
• There are three Platforms on Eiffel Tower.
• The three platforms on the Eiffel tower are filled with
unique places.
• The first level has a cafe, a museum with films of
famous visitors and other interesting things to read
and see
10. On the second platform there is a restaurant called the Jules
Verne, which is very expensive.
Jules Verne was a very famous French scientific author.
You are required to have reservations to the restaurant because
of the restaurants popularity.
On the third platform of the tower there is a bar, a souvenir store
and the office of Gustav Eiffel.
Gustav Eiffel is who built the Eiffel tower.
11. The Eiffel tower is a great tour extraction.
The outstanding views are what sell
people to the tower. On the 2nd floor the
view is the best during the sunset. You
can see miles away. Three are places to
eat, drink and get a souvenir.

12. To use the stairs to the 1st & 2nd floor it is 4,00 Euro
To go all the way to the top in the elevator it is 12,00 Euro—
cheaper if you are in a group
The Tower opens at 9:30 am, and the stairs close earlier
than the elevator—last lift at 11 pm
To reach the top of the Tower (276 meters), visitors must
take another elevator from the second floor.
