BACKGROUND
Sergio Saenz, is an Associate Principal and Senior Vice Presi-
dent at HKS, and the Director of Hospitality - Miami Studio.
A native of Monterrey, Mexico, he spent the first 14 years
of his career at HKS HQ in Dallas, Texas. In 2013, Sergio was
invited to establish the HKS Hospitality Studio in Miami, FL
to develop business opportunities in the SE United States,
Latin America, and the Caribbean.
As a Senior Project Designer, he is responsible for transforming
the client’s vision and the unique qualities and characteristics
of each site into landmark projects that provide an incompa-
rable experience, in projects ranging from hotels and resorts to
urban mixed use developments.

Sergio leads the architectural team from concepts to construc-
tion all the while balancing design aesthetics with the very
real demands of efficient hotel operations and project budget
constraints. He works closely with his clients, consultants, and
the design team throughout the programming and design
phases of their projects, and has completed numerous hospi-
tality projects throughout the United States, Mexico, Europe,
South America, the Middle East, and China.
Sergio has been the recipient of the prestigious Design Future
Council 40 under 40 award, as well as the Luis Barragan Design
Media award by the ITESM Architecture School. He has spoken
at multiple industry events including 2014 & 2015 National AIA
Convention, HD Summit, and Boutique Design NY
