1892 (August) – Sold to C.F Adams & Abbot Low Mills for $850,000
Connected East & West Portland under Willamette River w/ 10” Pipe
1913 – Sold to American Power & Light Company for $3.5 Million and renamed to
Portland Gas and Coke Company
1957 – Company closed its last manufactured gas plant upon arrival of Natural Gas
3. 1958 – Company changed its name to NW Natural Gas Company
1969 – The company builds its first liquefied natural gas storage tank
1979 – Largest expansion, adding 450 miles of pipeline to its 11,000-mile system
1989 – Has grown to serve over 300,000 customers
1997 – Company changed its name to NW Natural
2000 – NWN arrives to the stock market and launches a stock buyback
2001 – NWN attempted to purchase Portland General Electric for nearly $3 Billion
2012 – Employs over 1,000 fulltime permanent employees, serves over 680,000
customers
2012 – NW Natural operates over 634 miles of transmission lines and nearly 20,000
miles of distribution lines
