High pressure oil to drive the rear wheels is taken from the high pressure "loop"
of the , hydrostatic transmission. High pressure lines ' carry oil to the powered
rear axle control valve, A, Figure 21-1. The control valve controls the oil to the two
10. rear wheels. The flow limiters, B, Figure 21-1, limit the flow of oil to the rear
wheels. One 23 GPM (87.1 Lpm) limiter for forward and one 12 GPM (45.4 Lpm)
limiter for reverse. Limiting the flow to the rear wheels will eliminate the
possibility of the rear wheels spinning out, taking all the oil, and the combine
stopping. Providing flow greater than the flow rating of the flow limiter will help
eliminate rear wheel spinout. Provide more flow by using a lower (2nd or 1st}
gear and stroking the hydrostatic control lever farther forward.
The tailings return system consists of a cross auger at the bottom of the cleaning
shoe, an elevator on the right side of the combine, and a cross auger above the
rotors which delivers the tailings to the front rotor rasp bar area. The tailings
system is powered by a chain from the left end of the shoe eccentric shaft to the
slip clutch on the lower tailings return cross auger.
Both final drives are a 11/111 ratio. The ratio 11 /111 means there are 11 teeth
on the input gear and 111 teeth on the output gear. The Style I final drive, shown
in Figure 22-1, is used on TR96 combines below serial number 527821. This final
drive uses standard hardware. Disassembly of Style I final drive is discussed in
Section 22A. The Style II final drive, shown in Figure 22-2, is used on Model TR96
combines above serial number 527820 and the Models TR97 and TR98. This final
drive uses metric hardware.
The TR96, TR97, and TR98 combines use a disc brake type system which is
hydraulically activated from the operator's cab. This system consists of two foot
pedals (to the right of the steering column), a master cylinder/reservoir, hydraulic
lines, and two slave .cylinders. The master cylinder/reservoir incorporates a
pressure-compensating valve. This compensates for slight differences in the
adjustment of the discs when applying both right and left brakes at the same
time. Incorporated in this system is the parking brake which uses the disc brake
components, but is mechanically activated.
