Lagos (NAN), February 2016 – Intels Nigeria Ltd, has successfully concluded the
Second Integrated Management System (ISO 9001:2008, OHSAS 18001:2007 & ISO
14001:2004) Surveillance Audit Exercise by ABS Quality Evaluations Inc. (ABS QE)
This is contained in a statement made available newsmen on Tuesday in Lagos by the
company.
ABS QE, is a world-leading certification body which provides technical services to
support safe, reliable and high-performance assets and operations.
According to the statement, the company is part of the American Bureau of Shipping
(ABS), a leading marine and offshore classification society.
“Upon the company’s Integrated Management System Certification in 2013, Intels
Nigeria Ltd., has continued to work with ABS QE.
“To assure, strengthen and continually improve on business, system, people and
supply chain performances, while providing Integrated Logistics Support Services to
the Onshore/Offshore Oil & Gas industries within the Oil Service Centres,” it said.
The statement said that the Audit exercise lasted for nine days, commencing on Jan
25, 2016.
It said that the high point of the Audit session was at the closing meeting between
the ABS QE Auditors and Intels’ top management staff.
It said that Intels was presented with the Audit report with zero Non-Conformities
observed throughout the Audit exercise.
“The audit covered the verification of the IMS conformance, company’s documented
management system and verification of compliance with applicable contractual,
legal and regulatory requirements.
“Evaluation of the effectiveness of Intels management system in line with meeting
specified objectives.
2. “Also, there were ten identified areas for potential improvements and numerous
areas of commendations, particularly in the areas of infrastructure development,
equipment maintenance rates and several performing areas,” the statement said.
It said this comprised Quality, Health, Safety and Environment units, even as the
company recorded a Lost Time Injury Free Operation throughout the 2015 HSE year.
The General Manager of Intels Nigeria Ltd. Mr Sascha Kuehl, reassured the auditors
that the company would continually drive to build on its achievements.
“Bearing in mind the identified areas for potential improvement and the dedication
to continue to maintain the company’s competitive advantage while rendering
quality services to Nigeria’s largest oil and gas service centres.
“Intels is looking forward to 2017 when the next full certification to ISO 9001:2015 is
due.
“ABS Quality Evaluation has successfully been accredited by ANSI-ASQ National
Accreditation Board (ANAB) to provide certification to ISO 9001:2015.
“There is presently a transition period starting December 2015 from ISO 9001:2008
to ISO 9001:2015,” Kuehl said.
