Database languages and tools SQL Server 2008 with SSIS,SSRS, Visual Studio.Net 2005
Programming Language C#.NET, ASP.Net, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, .Net Web
Service, .Net Windows Service
Client UHG-OHBS, WellPoint, Cognizant’sT10-Platform’s,
Excellus, UHCRV, PHP, Product.
PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
HIPAA EDI Converter (EDICON) is the Cognizant’s proprietary product which is a part of Cognizant’s T10
platform exclusively designed and developed for the Healthcare clients using Microsoft Technologies and SQL
SERVER as the database which would help the clients in the process of assessment and remediation phase of
HIPPA 5010 Compliance. The product operates in dual mode:
• Step Up Conversion: Converts 4010A1 EDI Transaction File(s) to 5010 EDI Transaction(s)
• Step Down Conversion: Converts 5010 EDI Transaction File(s) to 4010A1 EDI Transaction File(s).
The user can also have an option to convert multiple 4010A1 / 5010 EDI Transaction File(s) at a time by
making use of inbuilt batch process scheduler of this product. The batch process scheduler is basically a
windows service developed in C# .Net which processes the incoming EDI Files delivered via FTP/EDICON using
external web service. This tool comes with a customizable UI for customizing output 5010 / 4010A1 EDI
Transaction Files, warning messages, inbound/outbound transaction mapping data and situational data. This
product also provides audit logging, inbound/outbound EDI data repository and auto email notification to
designated users once the file conversion process gets completed for that particular user. The key features of the
EDI Converter are the following:
• Manages multiple version conversion option by supporting conversion from 4010A1 to 5010 or from
5010 to 4010A1 version.
• Supports both batch and online conversion processing. Batch mode enables configurable and
automated conversion process and online mode provides various additional features to customize the
output transaction.
• Validates the outbound transaction through various predefined warnings configuration options for the
X12 changes to highlight the incompliant codes in the converted file. In addition, it also provides a
friendly interface to configure user-defined warnings for specific scenarios.
• Enables line of business specific or trading partner specific conversion process using various intuitive
business rules that determine the validity of situational criteria and accordingly incorporate situation
additions and their field values.
• Supports extensive reporting capabilities highlighting the conversion performance and any
error/warning generated as part of the conversion. This includes notification management through an
email triggered to the pre-defined users, for specific events.
• Customizes information in the inbound transaction to a user defined field value. For example, to achieve
masking of PHI in the inbound transaction, corresponding field value can be changed to user defined
values.
• Displays the converted transaction in a user-friendly descriptive tree interface with a history of
transaction conversion process.
