1. AGENCY
Lane County Division of Youth Services
provides case management and probation in
Lane County between the ages of 12 to 17.
Youth are referred to the Division from local law
enforcement because of criminal behavior. DYS
is responsible for services to youth accused of
law violations or judged delinquent by the
juvenile court. My internship has consisted of
case management/probation work with youth in
North and West Eugene.
TARGET POPULATION
Lane County Juvenile Counselors and youth
whom they supervise.
PURPOSE
Resource guide to address needs, where to
access services and resources
Mental health services, medical care, legal
assistance, job training, etc.
Brochure is for juvenile counselors and youth
What is human trafficking, what signs to look for,
myths, and facts
Begin reducing the stigma of trafficking
victims and begin to provide victims with
support services

GOALS
BENEFITS
Increases awareness of human sex trafficking amongst adolescent
youth as well as increase knowledge of the issue in Lane County, the
state of Oregon, and nationally
Provides resources and services for victims, provide resources for
staff to increase their knowledge and understanding, and where to
refer youth in crisis
Resource guide and brochure can be reproduced
Lane County has many agencies that work with this specific population of
high risk youth
Future referrals could be made to these agencies to better serve the youth
Will provide information on the issue, how one could reduce their
risk, and where to receive services
SUSTAINABILITY & FUTURE USE
Resource guide and brochure can be reproduced and utilized by
other agencies in Lane County
Could be a future project implanted again at DYS or other agencies that work
with this specific population
Future Family and Human Services students could do this by updating
research and agency information
POSSIBILITIES
Educational group for DYS youth
Educational group for middle school/high school students
Create a curriculum for other agencies and schools to train
staff/interns/volunteers and youth about sex trafficking and ways to
identify a possible victim, reduce risk, etc.
