Sara Schimpf
Originally from Pittsburgh, PA, Sara moved to Venice, FL, at the age of 6 where she
was raised until she left home at the age of 18 to attend college. It was 3 years
later that she took her first yoga class in 2000, while attending The Florida State
University, earning a Bachelors of Science in Social Science. After college she moved
to Jacksonville, FL, where she worked in the financial industry for over 10 years.
While living in Jacksonville, she met and married her husband Randy, and joined the
ranks as a Military spouse. A few years later she became a mother. It was shortly
after the birth of her third child and as a means of escape from the confines and
stress of raising small children and the demands of being a military spouse (often
times alone, as her husband was deployed), she soon realized the power her Yoga
practice had. The connection of the mind and body through posture and breath
taught her the gift of the present moment, and it was liberating! For the past 15
years she has practiced many different styles of yoga and pulls inspiration from
her years on the mat in her teaching. Her power style Vinyasa class uses heat and
music to move you through a great workout for both the mind and body. Sara has
her RTY200 and is certified through the Yoga Alliance. She studied under and trained
with many yogis, including Alyson Foreacre of the Yoga Den in Jacksonville, FL,
Brihony Smyth & Dice Iida-Kleine of Equinox Yoga, and Michael Johnson of Asheville
Yoga Center. She considers herself a forever student, and is grateful every day for
the opportunity to share what she loves.
When she is not on the mat, you can find Sara shuffling through the daily work
of motherhood. She is new to the area (moving here from Florida) and enjoys
exploring the outdoors with her family. She has traveled the world, spending time
in Germany, Czech Republic, and the Netherlands, and looks forward to the day her
children are old enough to explore with her. She is excited for the fall and a cold
winter (a nice change from the Florida heat). Lately you can find her curled up
reading a good book with a warm cup of tea.
