1952 - Born to farm-worker parents, Alejandro Meza and Rebecca
Miranda, in Bakersfield, California. She grew-up witnessing
horrific domestic violence and a victim of parental abuse and
neglect.

1957- At the age of five began experiencing seductive sexual
molestation and abuse from strangers and family members, from
men and women. When she entered kindergarten she already knew
how to read and write English and Spanish. This was a
supernatural occurrence.

1962 - By the time she was 10 yrs. old her living environment and
the agonizing confusion of sexual secrets had molded her into
prostitution, homosexuality and auto-eroticism.

1966 – She graduated from Jr. High in spite of long absences from
school due to her mother’s illnesses and their constant migrating to
follow the harvesting of the crops.

1967 – Although intelligent, Socorro was unable to attend high
school. She began working full-time in the agricultural fields. She
joined the “huelga”, the strike, right alongside of Cesar Chavez,
the national organizer and leader of the labor union, United Farm
Workers’ Organizing Committee of America. Her parents feared
for her safety and sent her to a job corps center in Oregon.
Institutionalized with 900 women, she began experiencing lesbian
love affairs.

                                 1
1968 – She entered the University of Oregon at the age of sixteen
and though she tried dating men the internal conflict was too much
to bear. Socorro found the numbing effects of drugs and alcohol
and the sense of power from teasing, denying and punishing men.

1969 – Upon finishing her freshman year, Socorro returned to
Phoenix, Az.
She began working to help support the family. Soon she became
the lover of both her boss and his wife. This experience caused her
to surrender to more chemical abuse and sexual addictions
including hard-core pornography.

1970 – At the age of 18 she entered Arizona State Univ. becoming
involved in student organizations and political campaigns. There
she met a professor who was 20 yrs. her senior and began living
with him. He was alcoholic and would not only beat her but also
rape her. It was at this point that she vowed never to love another
man!

1971- Two consecutive summers she was an intern in Washington
DC; first with the Dept. of Health, Education and Welfare then
with the President’s Committee on Latin American Affairs. The
purpose was for leadership development training with the goal of
placing her into Political Office but the promiscuity and sexual
addiction had spread into an illicit life of pornography book-stores,
strip joints and nudists clubs causing her more fear fragmentation
and isolation.

1972 – As a Ford Foundation Fellow she traveled into Mexico to
do research while there she began her first long –term lesbian
relationship. This relationship lasted over 7 years. Through an
agreement they gave birth to a baby boy. Her lover left to go be

                                  2
with the baby’s father. The trauma of the betrayal submerged her
deeply into living a triple life and she began I.V. drug usage.

1977- While enrolled as a student at the university she worked as a
student advisor and an instructor of Nutrition and Dietetics at
Miami-Dade Community College, Miami, Fla.

1978 – She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Nutrition and
Dietetics and a Food Service minor from Florida International
University.

1980 – In her attempt to regroup from the daze of abandonment,
she traveled to Washington DC where she had many temporary
positions including teaching a class at the internationally acclaimed
National Institute of Health in Bethesda, Md.

1980-1986 – Socorro worked in hospitals and in 5 star restaurants
in management positions while her life became progressively
unmanageable.
Her second long-term lesbian relationship was more tumultuous
than the first. It was an “on and off, yes and no, maybe so, push
and pull, lovers but roommates, roommates only but now and then
lovers, up and down” type of relationship. Socorro fell into an
abyss of pain, anger, confusion and perversion.

1986-1993 – Seven years of street life; total darkness involving
crime, danger, rage. This resulted in 10 arrests, 13 rehabs, 5
psychiatric units, and the “wish I could die” voices.

1988 – Through a miraculous sequence of events Socorro received
Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. Her life began to change, but
her behavior reflected the cancer in her soul; thus, to many she did
not appear Saved.
