2. Tourists
People who leave tehir homes to temporarily visit a place
they should be spending and not earning money from the place
they visit, and with the intention of learning something about the
place like its story, culture and people.
4. Opening
• The opening is done when starting the tour guide activities,
which is when you first meet or pick up tourists at the airport,
bus, port, or hotel.
• As tour guides, we have to give greetings, introduce ourselves,
the agency travel company, tell about the itinerary and give
general information about the places we are going to visit.
5. Commentary
• Before we explain and provide information to tourists, it helps
us to know in advance about the places we are going to visit.
• we must know the tourists are immigrants or have visited the
place.
• we can inform travelers about general information, public
places (e.g. toilets, mosques, etc.), rules, restrictions, etc.
• Provide information about the scheduled time to visit the
venue. If possible, tourists can spend time taking pictures,
buying souvenirs, or doing just about anything. And then it
will continue to the next places.
6. Closing
• Say thanks for your cooperation and attention
• Say sorry if there are mistakes during the tour
• Express a desire to meet again
• Say goodbye.
7. Good morning, ladies and gentlemen. I would like to welcome you all to Medan,
North Sumatra. First of all, you should all adjust your watches since we are at a different time
area. Our local time is currently 8 AM.
Before I explain to you all further about our tour for today, allow me to introduce
myself. My name is Leesa Naritha. I am your tour guide for today from Sans Tour and Travel
Agency. And in today’s tour, we have Mr. Jamil as our bus driver. Mr. Jamil has been our
driver for 5 years and he has 10 years of coach-driving experience. So, you are all in the right
hands. Please, do not hesitate to ask me or Mr. Jamil a favor because we will be ready to help
you at all times.
Our itinerary for today starts at Medan City Hall on Balai Kota Street. This city hall
is one of the oldest buildings you will find in Medan. It was built in 1908 and was first used by
Baron Marclay, who was a major in Medan at the time. This building has interesting
architecture, which is something you will be able to enjoy.
After visiting Medan City Hall, we will go to Hotel Dharma Deli, which is the first
luxurious hotel that you will find in Medan. This hotel was formerly known as Hotel de Boer.
You will be able to see the unique original accessories of Hotel de Boer in this next destination.
The visit to Hotel Dharma Deli ends today’s tour. We will then take you back to
your hotel to continue the tour tomorrow. Hopefully, you will be able to get a good night’s
sleep at the hotel that we have prepared for all of you.
