In 2012, Asia experienced 221 natural disasters that affected over 89 million people, accounting for 64% of total worldwide victims. While Asia's economic growth has lifted millions out of poverty, benefits have not spread equally as Asia is still home to over two-thirds of the world's poor. By 2025, a majority of Asia's population will be urbanized, though only nine Asia-Pacific countries remain classified as Least Developed Countries.
