Nov08 Lesson 3 Gods Promise To Be With Us
1. THEME: THE PROMISES OF GOD
Lesson 3: God’s Promise to Be With Us
(Matthew 28:29, Exodus 13:17-22)
Key Concepts: God promises to always be with us us. God will never leave us.
Good morning / good afternoon children! Who is ready to learn about Jesus, raise your
hands? Wonderful, let us begin:
In the first week, we learnt that God keeps His promise. It means that God will definitely
do what He says He will do. The Bible tells us that God keeps His promise because He is
righteous. “..You have kept your promise because you are righteous.quot; Nehemiah 9:8.
Then we learnt that God promises to love us whether we have been good or bad. The Bible
tells us that God says “I will love you..with a love that will last forever..” Jeremiah
31:3. Isn’t that wonderful?
This week, we will learn that God promises to be with us. God will always be with us and
never leave us. No matter what we are going through, God will always be by our side.
Let us learn from the Bible how God has shown that He will always be with us:
Long, long time ago, the people of Israel lived in a country called Egypt where they were
slaves. Slaves are not like servants. They don’t get money for their work and they have to
work very hard for very, very long hours. They also do not get enough food to eat and
they are treated badly. So the people of Israel were treated very badly by the people in
Egypt. And God heard their cries and saw how badly they were being treated. God also
remembered His promise to them that He will always love them. Remember last week,
Saul came to know that God loved him no matter if he have been good or bad?
So God used a man called Moses to bring the people of Israel out of Egypt to a land God
promised to give them. But to go from Egypt to the Promised Land was a very, very, very
long walk. At that time, there were no airplanes, so they could not fly there. There were
no trains that they can take. There were no car or bus, so they cannot drive there. They
all had to walk.
Now not only did they have to walk there, they have to walk across the deserts and
mountains. There were no hotels, no restaurants. Nothing! They were all alone except for
the wild animals that could eat them and snakes that could kill them. Wouldn’t you be
afraid?
Yes, so the people of Israel were also very afraid. Well, God not only promised to love
them, God also promised to be with them all the time. So what did God do?
2. God was with them like a pillar of cloud in day time and like a pillar of fire at night. In the
day time, it was very, very hot. So God was with them like a pillar of cloud to protect
them from the sun so that they could walk without feeling so hot and tired. And in the
night, the desert was very, very cold and dark. So God was with them like a pillar of fire
to keep them warm and give them light so that they could see.
And so throughout the journey from Egypt to the Promised Land, God was with them like
a pillar of cloud and a pillar of fire.
So children, do you see that God keeps His promise to always be with us and never leave
us? No matter where we are, what we are going through, what we are doing, God is always,
always there watching over us. We may not see God or feel God with us but He is always
there. So, we don’t have to feel lonely or afraid.
The Bible tells us that God says “..And remember, I am with you always..” Matthew
28:29. Isn’t that wonderful?
Let us now try to memorise what God says “..And remember, I am with you always..”
Matthew 28:29.
Very good! Let’s close our eyes and pray.
Prayer
Dear Jesus, thank you for promising to be with me always, no matter what I am
going through. I don’t have to feel lonely or afraid. In Jesus' name, Amen.
