I ) Topographic Surveying. The incorporation of geodetic benchmarksas
applied to site conditions to produce a plan which details the area with
respectto its locationandtopographicfeatures.Shaneproducesthe plan on
AutoCad,LDD aswell ascompletesthe field work with useof total station.
Benchmarksarelocatedusinsa heldGPS.
2) Structuremonitoring. Using a Nikon DTN472OTotal Stationto measurethe
lateral and vertical movements of buildings and excavation shoring
structures.Shoringstructuresat constructionsitesareusedto hold backthe
soil, so that the work can proceedsafely and productively. Monitoring of
the shoringallowsthe constructioncompanyto know if the shoringis stable
andcanprovidea safeworking environment.
3) Dock Wall Monitoring. Similar in scopeto the structuremonitoring,the
dock wall holdsback soil from the lake. Constructionneara dock structure
may provide potentialstability problemsdue to vibrations,dewateringand
extra loading due to storedmaterials. Monitoring of the dock wall will
provide information about the stability and safety of the structureand
constructionworkers.
