La Charte pour les enfants is a collection of 14 illustrated storybooks introducing French-speaking Canadian children to the concepts in the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms. Each story takes place in a different province or territory and focuses on a unique right or freedom, while also teaching about local culture. ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Dustin Milligan first conceived the idea for La Charte pour les enfants when he was a
student at the Faculty of Law at McGill University. After his first year of studies, he was
concerned that the common citizen wasn't equipped to understand Canada's complicated
legal system.
He recognized that children were at a further disadvantage. By combining his love for
literature and law, Dustin created a series of books that offers children a basic
understanding of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms.
