Ryan, Miller and Associates was founded in 1976, by Lee Ryan & Roger Miller, with the
primary view toward recruiting financial professionals for major corporations in Southern
California. During the mid 1980’s, RMA established two specialized practice groups:
FINANCIAL SERVICES GROUP, headed by Roger Miller, which has four separate
divisions: Commercial Banking, Investment Banking, Investment Management, and
Commercial Finance. Each of these divisions recruits candidates in their specialized
markets, enabling RMA to have both in-depth expertise in each of these individual areas as
well as a good overview of a wide variety of Financial Services candidates, many of whom
cross over from field to field throughout their careers.
CORPORATE GROUP, managed by Lee Ryan recruits financial and accounting
management for both large and small corporations in Southern California.
Today, RMA has 4 Partners, 4 Senior Vice Presidents, 3 Vice Presidents, 3 Associates and
3 part-time recruiters/research assistants. In 2014, RMA was ranked among the top 10
recruiting firms in Los Angeles county by the Los Angeles Business Journal.
COMMERCIAL BANKING DIVISION
This Division was started in 1985 by Roger Miller. He and Mike Gregory are the two
Partners responsible for this Division along with a Vice President and 2 Research Assistants.
Over the years, RMA’s accumulated Commercial/Corporate Banker database encompasses
over 25,000 individuals in the Western U.S. Throughout its history, the Commercial Banking
Division has been very active in recruiting for:
- West Coast offices of major U.S, European, and Asian-based Banks, in the areas of Large
Corporate Lending, Treasury Management, Capital Markets, Leveraged Finance, Project
Finance and Private Banking. Clients have included: HSBC, BNP Paribas, Bank of New
York Mellon , JP Morgan Chase, ING, DBS, Boston Private, Lloyds Bank, OCBC and
Rabobank.
- Mid to large-size Banks based on the West Coast in the areas of Middle Market Lending,
Credit Administration, Credit Review, Cash Management, Private Banking, Business
Banking, Investment Management, Trust and Operations. Clients have included: Union
Bank, City National Bank, Bank of the West, Wells Fargo Private Bank, East West Bank,
Citizens Business Bank, Community Bank and Pacific Mercantile Bank.
RMA has also been involved in recruiting senior management (CEO’s , CCO’s , CLO’s) for
Banks under $ 1 billion in assets in the Western U.S. In 2012, the average base salary for all
positions placed by the Commercial Banking Division was $ 146,000 and average total
compensation was $ 185,000.
