An experienced, accomplished team builder Dr. Wright offers consulting services in
developing and executing solutions and strategies for energy and environmental projects,
programs and policies. He consults on more effective ways to engage public and private
international entities.
Dr. Wright has formed The Wright Group LLC. Before that he had a 40-year career in
federal service, at the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and the U.S.
Department of Energy (DOE), before retiring from DOE as a Senior Advisor. Prior to his
government service, Dr. Wight spent 6-years in the private sector with Westinghouse
Electric Corporation and Curtiss Wright Corporation.
During his career Dr. Wright developed strategies and work plans for numerous energy
technologies and carbon management programs. He advised senior management with
regard to policies and programs that address climate change, alternative clean energy
technologies and carbon capture and storage (CCS). Dr. Wright developed modalities for
knowledge sharing in CCS large-scale tests, demonstration projects and R&D projects
between the U.S. and other countries. He served as the Designated Federal Official for
the National Coal Council, an advisory board to the Secretary of Energy under the Federal
Advisory Committee Act (FACA).
Dr. Wright served three years as a member of the Maryland Governor’s Strategic Energy
Investment Fund Advisory Board. He served on the Metropolitan Washington Air
Quality Committee (MWAQC) for six years and was Chairman from January 1999
through January 2001. He has been a Congressional Fellow in the U.S. House of
Representatives and a Legislative Fellow in the U.S. Senate. Both times he provided advice
and counsel regarding a spectrum of issues with regard to energy and climate change.

He was elected to three 2-year terms on the City Council of Rockville, Maryland, from
1995 through 2001. In 2013 and 2015 he managed successfully the campaigns of a sitting
Rockville City Council Member.

At Westinghouse achieved the world’s first 100-hour test of an MHD channel
At U.S. NRC developed an application to assess materials exposed to radiation that
resulted in a five-fold reduction in the review time for certification for use in nuclear
vessels
At U.S. DOE in five years organized over 10 bilateral workshops and conferences
on CCS technology with 8 countries
At U.S. DOE developed and published the first North American Carbon Storage
Atlas
At U.S. DOE as the 2013 Manager for the Combined Federal Campaign at
headquarters raised over $1,000,000
