ROBERT GLEITZ
Power Generation leader
Robert Gleitz has worked for 2 large international companies in the Power Generation
industry: Alstom and General Electric (GE).
During these 30+ years of experience, he had the opportunity to hold a diversity of
positions, from technical first, moving to commercial responsibilities later on and then
enlarging his leadership experience in general management and strategic jobs.
He started his career in 1985 with Alstom in Paris as a commissioning engineer, and then
moved to a role of application engineer for Combined cycles Power plants. In 1992, he
moved to commercial responsibilities, supporting global transactions for the same
technologies. He was named Sales Director in 1997 for Alstom Energy Products in charge
of Central Asia. During these years in the commercial area, he earned successes in various
countries like Belarus, Asia & Turkey. (Contracts from 30 up to 400M€)
Robert then spent eight years with GE. He had a first assignment in 1999 in Germany as
Commercial Director for German speaking countries & Eastern Europe and the same year
his responsibility was enlarged to Western Europe/Central Asia. One year later he took the
responsibility of the entire Projects Office for GE Europe (>400 people; Plant Engineering,
Project Management & site works) before taking the lead of the 1.5B€ European Operation
of GE Energy in 2003.
In 2005 he moved to the role of Global Product Line Leader for GE Wind, based in the
USA, and spent two years turning around the business, increasing dramatically the volume
and simplifying the product line.
In 2007, Robert moved back to Alstom in order to develop and lead the nascent Alstom
wind Business (Acquisition of Ecotecnia, Spain)
A more strategy oriented period started in 2010, when he took on the leadership of the
marketing team of Alstom Power (All Power Generation technologies) and then drove the
Product/Platform effort for Alstom’s Steam & Gas businesses.
When GE announced his willingness to acquire Alstom Power in March 2014, Robert was
naturally named leader of the integration preparation for the Gas business. He also ensured
that the authorisation process was duly managed.
At the end of October 2015, Robert has decided to leave Alstom and to prepare himself for
new challenges.
Robert Gleitz is graduated from The National Institute of Applied Sciences (INSA) of Lyon,
France (1984) and holds a B.S. Degree in Thermal Engineering. He was born in 1959 in
Strasbourg, France.
