PROFILE
In 2008 I started at Shevington High School, I stayed there continuing my studies up until
reaching year 10 where I chose my GCSE subjects of choice which were ICT, English
language, English Literature, Dual Award Science, Graphic Design, Media, Mathematics and
Geography. The results I received allowed me to be accepted into my first choice college which
was Wigan UTC. There I started a BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Engineering, with a
predicted target grade of three distinctions.. Due to my hard work and determination I have
exceeded my targets and successfully achieved two distinction star grades and one distinction.
Throughout my short time at Wigan UTC I developed my communication and organisation skills
and learnt how to work effectively in a team and also independently.
KEY ACHIEVEMENTS
● In year 12 Wigan UTC hosted an awards evening, I was proud to be presented with the
privileged accolade of ‘Engineer of the year’ by the politician Esther McVey and also
received accreditation for ‘100% attendance’
● Throughout my time at Wigan UTC I worked as a student ambassador, this entailed
taking on extra responsibilities, acting as a student voice for my peers who had
concerns, attending meetings with the principle and other student ambassadors to
discuss students views, areas of improvements and future plans. Although this was not
part of my role I volunteered to attend all open evenings meet with prospective students
and guardians giving them a guided tour and general insight into the college’s ethos,
standards and achievements One of my proudest moments was meeting Prince Edward
the Earl of Wessex while participating in one of these events, overall my diverse
experience of speaking with people from various backgrounds has enabled me to
improve my social and communication skills and I can now communicate at all levels
with confidence.
● I participated in a ‘Dragons Den’ business challenge in 2014. This included coming up
with an idea, a theme and a product which we could manufacture and then sell to the
public. My team of four decided on a new flavour of soup, tomato and chilli we worked
closely together on the design, saleability, taste and cost effectiveness which resulted in
the group winning an award for the ‘best teamwork’.
● For 11 years I remained captain of Shevington Football Club where I won many trophies
the most meaningful of which was The Players Player of the Year for 7 years running,
however after the team disbanded I went on to captain Appley Bridge Football Club.
This year I have been presented with both Player of the Year and Players Player of the
Year which was a very proud achievement for me.
