 English language Teaching is based on the idea
that the goal of language of acquisition on
communicative competence.
 The teaching profession has historical used
different names for TEFL ( teaching English as a
Foreign language) and TESL ( teaching English
as second language); however, the more generic
teaching English to speakers of other
language(TESOL) is increasingly used to
describe the profession.
Introduction
 English is rapidly becoming a world language.
 English has become one of the major languages of the
world.
 English is source of understanding among different nations
of the world.
 Medicine, industry, telecommunication and transport.
 The constitution of India recognizes not one but a
number of languages in its constitution.
 In India English is the only language which is understood
in all states, from Kerala to Kashmir and from Gujarat to
Assam.
 If we mirror the whole situation, we are shocked to see
the sorry state of affairs.
 Pity for Indians.

It creates a major problem for student as
they find themselves comfortable in using
it.
Poor and economic background is
responsible for it.
Don’t get enough opportunities to speak
English outside the classroom.
Not a proper infrastructure of the collages.
No class-room available for language
teacher.
The English language teachers should be
provided all sorts of aids.
 Govt. Of India is a always in hurry to implement its
policies on educational institutions.
 English is Compulsory subject at collage level.
 some institutions are not in a position to provide
such materials to the teachers as well as to the
learners.
 Collage should be provided with at least simple
visual aids.
 The methodology commonly followed in
school and collages is the translation-
grammar method, which is faulty.
 Three method: 1. Translation Method
2. Direct Method
3. Bilingual Method
 Bring about the rainbow effect by blending the
finest of all the three method.
Regional Background.
A linguistic teacher should be very much
careful and try to avoid such reional
dialects.
Consult a pronouncing dictionary before
going to the classrooms.
English is second language of India. For
Indian people English is working language.
