The clock is ticking. Follow this checklist to plan ahead and relieve some stress.

1. Last Minute Thanksgiving Checklist
The previous weekend
Create a thorough shopping list. And double-check it!
However, don't plan on finishing all of your buying in a single trip.
Instead, separate your shopping list into two categories: things you'll need in the days leading
up to the meal, and things you'll need in the final day or two.
Planning a second trip saves you from having to remember every stick of butter the first time,
as well as from having a grumbling refrigerator.
Pick up the wine.
Pick a few bottles of something to serve with the meal when you're at the shop to cross that item
off your list.
Tuesday
Prepare every cold menu item.
Everything that will be served chilled, such as cranberry sauce, should be prepared, covered,
and stored in the refrigerator until it is time to serve.
Wednesday
Grab the turkey.
This is the latest time you want to pick up your turkey, if it is not already in your hands.
Make one last trip to the store/
Before making a second trip to the supermarket, make an inventory (Heavy cream?
Grab any last-minute items you might have forgotten (tin foil?).
Don't be afraid of store-bought gravy or other time-saving measures!
Prepare vegetables and herbs.
Wash the herbs, chop the onions and celery, and trim the remaining veggies.
Dry them off, then cover and chill.
Put the stuffing together. After that, put to a baking dish and chill.
Make dessert. Or put as much of it together as you can, then chill it or bake it.
Begin on the sides.
Prepare any side dishes that can be made entirely or partially in advance as soon as possible.
Calculate the cooking time for your turkey.
On the actual day, don't obsess over timing issues.
Calculate the precise cooking time for your turkey the night before so you'll know when to put it
in the oven based on when you want to eat.

2. Make any final runs to the shop.
Call a dependable visitor and ask for a favor if, like most people, you remember one last thing
you need from the store on the big morning.
Then take them to a store that is open on Thanksgiving every year.
Roast the turkey after preparing it.
Before putting the turkey in the oven, clean and prepare it.
Make the sides
Prepare the side dishes while the turkey roasts.
Construct the gravy.
Make the gravy, put together any last-minute sides, and reheat any that you prepared the day
before while the turkey is resting.
Make dessert
During supper, reheat the dessert in the oven.
