Randolph Beamon turned 60 in 2009, he was searching for a way to reinvent himself; to
create a second act in his life that would allow him to express himself creatively. However,
the downturn in the economy made it difficult for him to figure out how he could start a
business that would thrive. Then, he remembered comments he’d gotten over the years
from family, friends and the charitable organizations he worked with about his cooking and
that’s when The Real Men Cook and Cooking for Change chef realized his knack for the
culinary arts could be a vehicle to transform his life.
Beamon founded Professor B’s Exotic Cheesecakes and entered the market in early 2010.
Since then, the Scarsdale-based business has quickly become a premier bakery featuring
outside-the-box confections that boast skillfully matched, unique flavors in every bite.
Using the analytical skills he honed during decades as a computer science professor,
Professor B refined his recipes until he created an innovative new way to make a
cheesecake that incorporates the true flavor of each of the ingredients he uses in every
morsel.
Professor B, inspired by his world travel, then raised this treats to a new level by adding
spices and ingredients he’s collected from other continents into the delectable desserts he
makes which can stimulate the palate of any person with a sweet tooth.
Professor B’s is the home of the only true Carrot Cake Cheesecake and 14 other one-of-a
kind mouth watering varieties. But, you don’t have to take the bakery’s word for it. The
number one local television station in New York, WABC-TV, featured the Professor B’s sweet
potato cheesecake in its Neighborhood East segment on November 5th.
Now, with his signature flavors solidified and his cheesecakes carried in several restaurants
including Yvonne’s House of Soul in Mt. Vernon, Beamon isn’t second guessing his second
career. In fact, the man who raised his three children in the Riverdale section of the Bronx
before moving to Westchester County, is looking forward to the bakery being a legacy he
can leave his family.
